Loksabha passes Bill amending Section 44 of Lokpal Act

This afternoon (Wednesday 27^th July 2016) the Lok Sabha passed a Bill amending Section 44 of the Lokpal Act.  This is the relevant section of the Act which requires disclosure of personal assets. 

Reportedly, the Bill was not circulated in advance, but, it was passed without any discussion or debate.

We are informed that this issue will now be referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee for review.

We are still to obtain copy of the Bill. However, for the moment, it appears that disclosure of assets need not be made before 31^st July 2016.
